Jean-Jacques Beineix, director of ‘Betty Blue’, dies at age 75

The movie poster must have hung in thousands of rooms in the late 1980s. In bright yellow letters the name Betty Blue, the English title of the French film 37º 2 le matin, written over the background of a night-blue sky in which the brooding portrait of 19-year-old Betty herself, played by the unforgettable actress Béatrice Dalle. It was a film that kept coming back for years and years in the programming of art houses, on the edge of the night, the ideal moment to immerse yourself once again in that beautiful fatal love between Dalle and Zorg (Jean-Hugues Anglade), a dazzling ride into an emotional abyss.
