James Blunt ‘threatens’ new music if Joe Rogan stays on Spotify

James Blunt has entered the debate about controversial Spotify podcaster Joe Rogan with a different kind of threat. He tweeted that if the streaming service doesn’t immediately remove Joe Rogan, it will release new music on the platform. He wrote the hashtag #youwerebeautiful in reference to his song “You’re Beautiful” from 2005.

Blunt, who likes to humorously address the fact that not everyone appreciates his music in public, responded in his own way to Neil Young’s protest with the tweet. He had almost all of his songs removed from Spotify last week. A short time later, fellow musician Joni Mitchell followed suit with a similar statement. They consider the statements made by comedian Joe Rogan, who has repeatedly spread false information on his podcast show, to be extremely dangerous for society.

James Blunt: Twitter comment sparks laughter and further discussion

Many Twitter users like James Blunt’s comment on the current debate – and they even make offers like this to the musician: “It would be great if you would join the wave that signals Spotify (and then everyone else) that the anti- Vax crap needs to stop. Seriously, even though I’m a Tom Waits fan, I’ll buy all your albums if you leave Spotify. Really now.”

Others are urging people to delve deeper into the topic, given that Joe Rogan doesn’t just invite anti-vaccination people onto his show: “Lol, that’s great. But anyone listening to @joerogan knows he’s not just about spreading his views. He also invites world-leading experts to challenge him and discuss the topic with him. I urge every critic to listen to what they’re saying before they want heads to roll.”
