Italian judiciary investigates racist insults

Rome (AP) – After alleged racist insults during the soccer game between Cagliari Calcio and leaders AC Milan, the Italian judiciary is reportedly investigating the case.

Fans of the Sardinian club are said to have racially insulted French AC keeper Mike Maignan and defender Fikayo Tomori during Milan’s 1-0 away win in Serie A on March 19, Gazzetta dello Sport reported. At the end of the game, the players of both teams would have argued for minutes.

The public prosecutor’s office of the Italian football association FIGC has launched an investigation into the case, the Ansa news agency wrote, citing association sources. “This Serie A matchday was destined to confront racism but we still have a long way to go and we must keep fighting it together,” AC Milan tweeted.
