Nobel laureate Helfand admitted the threat of nuclear war because of the crisis around Ukraine

If the conflict over the situation around Ukraine spreads beyond its borders, NATO joins the fighting, this could become a threat of a major war with the use of nuclear weapons, declared 1985 Nobel Peace Prize winner Ira Helfand, MD, in her article in The Nation.

He explained this by the fact that Russia, the United States and other NATO countries, despite the reduction in nuclear forces over the past decades, still have nuclear weapons.

According to Helpand, if even one 100-kiloton nuclear bomb explodes over Moscow, about 250,000 people could die and another 1 million people could suffer. At the same time, if one 100-kiloton bomb explodes over the US Capitol, more than 170 thousand people could die and about 400 thousand people suffer, the scientist believes.

He also suggested that within months of the attack, most of the US population could die from starvation, radiation sickness, and epidemic diseases.

In addition, Helfand believes that global climate change could also occur, including a 10-degree drop in the average global temperature on earth.
