In 2021, the number of women entrepreneurs who work online through marketplaces exceeded the number of men. The Wildberries experts came to such conclusions as a result of the research (RBC has it).

If at the end of 2020, 54% of businessmen in this segment were men, then by the end of 2021 the share of women who conduct online business was 53%. It is noteworthy that, at the same time, the choice of goods for sale through marketplaces practically did not change: 45% of respondents sell clothes, shoes and accessories, 30% – goods for home and repair, 17% – goods for children.

The share of young entrepreneurs under the age of 25 also increased significantly over the year: from 6% to 16%. Most (50%) of online businesses are between the ages of 26-35. The smallest (1%) share of entrepreneurs is over 55 years old.

Survey participants said that about 50% of them buy goods from Russian manufacturers or produce them on their own. 47% of respondents increased their sales by 10-100% over the year, and 15% of sellers more than doubled their sales.

At the same time, 41% of respondents work with a turnover of 100 thousand to 1 million rubles. monthly, 27% – from 1 to 5 million rubles, 9% – from 5 to 20 million rubles.
