In Kuzbass, they announced the absence of plans to close the Listvyazhnaya mine

The license of Listvyazhnaya Mine LLC is valid from October 2003 until the end of 2040. The enterprise is allowed to carry out exploration and extraction of minerals, as well as to use mining waste.

The mine produces 4-4.5 million tons of coal per year, its production capacity is 5.2 million tons annually. Approximately 1.7 thousand people work at the enterprise.

The court suspended the operation of the Listvyazhnaya mine for 90 days

On November 25, a methane explosion occurred at Listvyazhnaya. At that time, 285 workers were underground. 46 miners and five mine rescuers died, more than a hundred people were injured.

The level of methane at the mine more than once exceeded the permissible values, and the sensors of gas analyzers at the enterprise were sealed with adhesive tape, the miners told RBC. Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov also confirmed the information that real instrument readings were hidden at the mine.

The court arrested Gennady Alekseev, General Director of SDS-Coal, Anatoly Lobanov, Chief Engineer of the mine, and Anton Yakutov, Technical Director of SDS-Coal, until January 25, 2022. The co-owner and president of the holding, Mikhail Fedyaev, is also in jail.

Depending on the role of each, they were charged with violating the industrial safety requirements of hazardous production facilities, which negligently caused the death of two or more persons (part 3 of article 217 of the Criminal Code) and abuse of power in a commercial organization, which entailed grave consequences (part 2 of art. 201 of the Criminal Code). Under the first article threatens up to seven years in prison with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions up to three years, under the second – imprisonment up to ten years with the same restriction on work.

On December 30, the court suspended the operation of the mine for 90 days. Only rescue and restoration work can take place in it. The mine will be able to resume operations only after the development of project documentation, which will pass the necessary examinations and approvals.
