COVID-19 was the main underlying cause of the increase in the number of deaths last October and November, Statistics Netherlands (CBS) reported on Wednesday. According to Statistics Netherlands, however, there are also other, as yet unclear, causes that contributed to the most recent ‘excess mortality wave’ in which more people than average died.
