Cologne (dpa) – The Cologne finance boss Alexander Wehrle is apparently about to switch to Bundesliga rivals VfB Stuttgart.

As the “Bild” newspaper reports, the 46-year-old is said to have clarified the last details with VfB and to have a contract ready for signature. Wehrle will be the new CEO of the Swabians.

Wehrle still has a contract with FC until 2023, but should have a release clause. The Cologne-based company recently announced that the financial expert will leave the Bundesliga club by summer 2023 at the latest. According to “Bild”, Wehrle could leave FC in winter or in April at the latest.

Born in Swabia, he worked as an assistant to the management at VfB from 2003 to 2013. It is already clear to the Stuttgarters that the chairman of the board, Thomas Hitzlsperger, will leave the club.
