Ice hockey: Munich with a trembling victory – Düsseldorfer EG loses Derby

The three-time German ice hockey champion Red Bull Munich has continued its upward trend with a shaky victory in the derby against the Augsburg Panthers.

Coach Don Jackson’s team won 2-1 after extra time (0-0, 0-0, 1-1, 1-0) against the guests threatened with relegation and celebrated their third win in a row.

While fourth in the table reduced the gap to the top group, Augsburg is in 13th place. Scott Valentine (41st) had scored for the Panthers shortly after the start of the final third, Austin Ortega (51st) saved Munich in overtime, in Benjamin Street ( 64.) was successful.

In the fight for direct playoff participation, the Düsseldorfer EG had to accept a setback. In the derby against the Krefeld Pinguine, DEG lost 3:4 after extra time (1:1, 2:1, 0:1, 0:1) and is still ninth.

Düsseldorf took the lead three times, Krefeld equalized three times and scored the winning goal through Robert Sabolic after 54 seconds in overtime. The penguins are in eleventh place.
