Ice hockey: Germany is subject to the USA after a decent performance – Olympics

USA are building up more and more pressure

At the beginning of the second period, the USA built up a lot of pressure – and scored promptly. Five minutes after the restart, Matthew Knies scored to make it 2-1. A hit that was in the offing.

The German team now had more problems dealing with the dominance of the Americans. Again and again, David Quinn’s team became dangerous and created chances. The DEB selection lacked access and rhythm in the second section. Physically, however, the team’s performance remained good, so that Germany was able to prevent a larger deficit thanks to a decent fighting performance in the second half.

Germany is coming back again

At the beginning of the last third, Germany immediately had to endure a power play by the Americans. That succeeded, but a little later the bell rang in the housing behind Danny from the birches. Germany failed to break out of their own third and Nate Smith (43′) raised for the USA.

The Americans showed their class and Germany had problems keeping up. Nevertheless, Germany managed to score a goal shortly before the end. Tom Kühnhackl made it 2:3 in the 58th minute. However, after a significantly improved performance overall, the German team did not succeed anymore.

Canada won the parallel game in German Group A comfortably and clearly 5-0 against hosts China.
