Hyundai unveils MobED, its new electric platform

On December 15, 2021, Hyundai has unveiled MobED (for Mobile Excentric Droid). A brand new electric platform for very versatile applications. The Korean company puts its technological know-how at the service of his vision of the mobility of the future. This small electric robot seems intended for transporting goods and transporting people.

MobED: the future of mobility according to Hyundai

The MobED has four wheels that allow it to move optimally and independently with a flat platform. This robot was designed for actions that require stability and great maneuverability. According to Hyundai, the MobED can be used in environments “Complex and difficult urban areas thanks to an adjustable wheelbase and flexible steering angles”. MobED will make its official debut at CES 2022. Hyundai Motor Group has the opportunity to unveil its vision of the mobility of the future.

After 8 years of discussion, no agreement has been reached to regulate combat drones

Hyundai imagined MobED for overcome the limitations of guiding robots and existing interior service. The aim was to “Maximize its use in cities by considerably improving the mobility of the platform”, according to Dong Jin Hyun, head of the robotics lab at Hyundai Motor Group. The researcher specifies that “The intelligent design of each wheel, with an individual power and steering control system, allows on-site rotation and omnidirectional movement, which allows very efficient mobility, even in tight situations”.

Korean is passionate about robotics

Thanks to its impressive maneuverability, MobED can be used indoors and outdoors. In detail, MobED is 67cm long, 60cm wide, 33cm high, and weighs 50kg. Its maximum speed is 30 km / h, which allows it to drive approximately four hours on a single charge with a 2 kWh battery. Great performances, which will undoubtedly appeal to professionals in the sector at CES 2022.

With these initial data, we understand that Hyundai is seeking to position its platform on the delivery market. After buying Boston Dynamics a few months ago, Hyundai continues its foray into the field of robotics. From January 5 to 8, 2022, the Korean company will be present at CES 2022 to unveil all of its new technologies and concretely present its vision of robotics and the future of mobility. The MobED will of course be exhibited at the Hyundai Motor Group booth.
