Husband of murdered Galina Hutchins sues Baldwin

The husband of cameraman Galina Hutchins, who died from a gunshot while filming Rust, filed on actor and producer Alex Baldwin and other filmmakers sued with charges of manslaughter.

Documents filed with the New Mexico District Court allege that the defendants failed to complete standard safety checks and did not follow basic rules when using real weapons.

“Galina Hutchins deserved to live, and the defendants had the power to prevent her death,” the lawsuit states.

The tragedy happened in October 2021. During a rehearsal, Alec Baldwin fired a pistol and hit cameraman Galina Hutchins and director Joel Sauce. Hutchins died from her wounds. It turned out that the weapon was loaded not with blanks, but with live ammunition. At the same time, Baldwin himself claims that he did not pull the trigger at all, and the shot occurred spontaneously.

Meanwhile, Hannah Gutierrez-Reid, who worked as a gunsmith on the production of Rust, sued the companyselling fake ammunition. She believes that there were combat cartridges among the blanks, because of this, a tragedy occurred on the set.
