HSV: Several coaching candidates traded – Young Boys react to rumors

Second division soccer team Hamburger SV pulled the ripcord on Monday and parted ways with its head coach Tim Walter with immediate effect. Since then, several candidates have been traded at HSV.

HSV is looking for a new head coach after parting ways with Tim Walter. Until then, sports director Jonas Boldt made it clear on Monday, the previous assistant coach Merlin Polzin will take over the position.

The 33-year-old will be on the bench “one hundred percent” in the away game at Hansa Rostock. He is supported by Loic Fave, who was recently hired as head of sports at the youth performance center, and by Sven Höh as goalkeeping coach.

In the meantime, HSV wants to “take a calm look” at what happens next. Boldt did not comment on possible names for Walter’s successor on Monday, according to Boldt, who has now announced discussions internally and externally.

Wicky before returning to HSV? Bern takes a stand

The focus could also fall on those candidates who are now being traded as possible Walter successors. “Sport Bild” brought Friedhelm Funkel, Stefan Kuntz, Urs Fischer, André Breitenreiter and Steffen Baumgart into play. According to a “Bild” report, former HSV professional Raphael Wicky is also one of the Rothosen’s options.

However: According to reports, no contact has yet been made with Breitenreiter and Baumgart. As “Bild” has learned, there is currently no “big name” in the starting blocks. The lead on Wicky is also “not so hot” at the moment. The 46-year-old is only under contract with Swiss club Young Boys until the end of the season.

In Bern, people don’t waste any thought on breaking up early anyway. “We are facing important games. It is clear to us that we will play these with Raphael Wicky. We do not comment on rumors,” Young Boys told the “20 Minutes” portal on Monday.
