In the promotion race of the 2nd Bundesliga, Hamburger SV is currently just an outsider with six games to go before the end of the season. When it comes to personnel planning, a lot seems to depend on the outcome of the season finale.
As the “Bild” reports, with Josha Vagnoman a prominent HSV professional has now tied his future to the sporting fate of the Hanseatic League. The 21-year-old only wants to stay in the Hanseatic city if he is promoted. Otherwise, the full-back is aiming for a move to the Bundesliga.
A similar scenario was discussed with him last season. At that time, however, a long-term tendon injury in the ten-time U21 national player deterred potential buyers.
Last summer there were vague rumors about a possible move to BVB, and clubs from Italy and England are said to have been interested in the services of the defensive talent.
Now that the defender has completed his compulsory six-month break, these clubs could possibly make representations on the Elbe again.
HSV boss probably ready to talk
However, the fact that Vagnoman could leave the club does not catch the HSV management unprepared. According to the report, the Hamburgers are quite willing to talk if the fee is right. The pain threshold for the right-back is said to be six to eight million euros.
In principle, it is the intention of the sporting leadership to keep the squad together and to strengthen it selectively even in the event of non-promotion. However, a sale of Vagnoman would also offer opportunities. With a high single-digit million amount, other new signings could be realized that strengthen the squad across the board.
HSV acted similarly last summer. At that time, perspective player Amadou Onana was sold to OSC Lille for seven million euros.
