For more playing practice

After Hamburger SV presented its first new signing this winter, Masaya Okugawa, something has now happened on the second division side’s departure side. On Monday, HSV announced that homegrown player Valon Zumberi would be joining Swiss second division club FC Schaffhausen until the end of the season. Before that, the 21-year-old central defender extended his contract with the “Rothosen”, which originally expired at the end of the season, until 2025.
In Schaffhausen, where ex-Bundesliga professional Admir Mehmedi has been sports director since the end of last year, Zumberi will meet, among others, former Augsburg player Raúl Bobadilla, who returned to his former club a few days ago (to the news). For the defensive man it is his first farewell from Hamburg; in the Challenge League he will “gain as much match practice as possible at a high level and further advance his development,” hopes HSV.
“Valon will help make our defense even more stable. Despite his young age, he already has good leadership qualities. We are pleased that we were able to convince an HSV player to join us,” explained Mehmedi about the Kosovo U21 captain, who has so far played two games for the HSV professionals.
