HSV keen on BVB talent? Dortmund believes in whereabouts

BVB debutant Tom Rothe shaped large parts of the game in Borussia Dortmund’s spectacular 6-1 win over VfL Wolfsburg last Saturday. Towards the end of the game, Jamie Bynoe-Gittens and Lion Semic, two more talented players from the Black and Yellows, played their first minutes in Dortmund’s professional kit. However, Semic could soon try his luck elsewhere.

The “Ruhr news“want to know that Hamburger SV, among others, is said to be interested in the 18-year-old right-back. However, HSV is not the only club that is said to have kept an eye on the German U19 international. The newspaper does not explicitly name any other clubs.

In any case, the “Ruhr Nachrichten” does not see the most likely scenario in a farewell to Semic: “The talks with the young player have been going on for some time, there is optimism in the club that Semic, who has been on the ball for BVB since 2017, is interested in another away in the black and yellow jersey,” it says.

Semic with perspective at BVB?

So far, Semic has played 54 games for the youth departments of BVB. He scored four goals and prepared twelve goals.

So far, however, only the two minutes against VfL Wolfsburg have been recorded in the jersey of the Dortmund pros.

However, the prospects are not the worst: Thomas Meunier, Mateu Morey and Felix Passlack have three right-backs in the BVB squad, but Morey suffered a serious injury in 2021, so the return to the lawn should at least not be an easy matter. Whether Passlack has a great future in the Ruhr area can also be questioned. Emre Can, who often helps out on the right rear, is only partially convincing in this position.

It is quite possible that BVB will give Semic a chance in the professional squad from the coming season.
