Promotion race in the 2nd league
Actually, Hamburger SV was as good as written off after the last matchday in the fight for promotion. But after this Saturday there is a new spark of hope.
There are again only five points to third place: Hamburger SV has new hope in the promotion race of the 2nd Bundesliga. The “Rothosen” defeated Karlsruher SC 3-0 on Saturday evening and thus secured 6th place in the table. Hamburg previously benefited from the draw of city rivals St. Pauli, who only played 1-1 in Sandhausen.
Robert Glatzel (23rd), Mario Vuskovic (32nd) and Josha Vagnoman (68th) scored for HSV, who after 30 minutes played a superior number against KSC defense chief Daniel Gordon after yellow-red. Especially worth seeing was Vuskovic’s direct free kick from a good 25 meters. The KSC, for which nothing is at stake this season, had little to oppose.
In order for the return to be possible four years after being relegated from the upper house, the competition must also play their part – by stealing points from one another. This can happen on Easter Sunday (from 1.30 p.m. in the live ticker on t-online), when leaders Schalke 04 and fourth-placed Darmstadt 98 meet at the Böllenfalltor, while third-placed Werder Bremen welcomes fifth-placed 1. FC Nürnberg.
