Hamburg (dpa) – Team captain Sebastian Schonlau from the second division soccer team Hamburger SV praised the role of coach Tim Walter in the team before the relegation games against Hertha BSC.
Walter is not only proud of the team, “we are also proud of him,” said the HSV central defender in the Hanseatic city of the 46-year-old. And: “I’m sure he’ll be here for a while – and that’s a good thing.”
The team is “super happy with how things are going with the entire coaching team”. A change after the season is not an option for the 27-year-old. “We are happy that the constellation is the way it is and hope that it will remain in place for as long as possible,” he said.
Schonlau emphasized that the season was “very, very good” even before the relegation games on Thursday (8:30 p.m. / Sky / Sat.1) and Monday. Five or six weeks ago, no one would have expected a chance for advancement, he said.
After the 3:2 on Sunday at FC Hansa Rostock and the relegation achieved, he set a good example. With him it was a beer, he assured. As for his teammates, he could not give any information. “It goes without saying that nobody freaked out yesterday,” said the central defender.
