HSV board hopes for Düsseldorf game

Jonas Boldt hopes that second division soccer team Hamburger SV can play again for a guest game at Fortuna Düsseldorf after the corona-related cancellation of the home game against Erzgebirge Aue on Saturday.

“We are in contact with the authorities, we hope that things are not that bad, that the players can test themselves as quickly as possible and that there will be no further cases,” said the HSV sports director to the editorial network Germany (RND). “We are also in contact with Düsseldorf to be able to see early on whether the game is possible. We will do everything we can to make that happen.”

The German Football League (DFL) canceled the Aue game on Friday evening because the Hanseatic League did not have enough healthy professionals available due to the Corona outbreak. The infections were “probably brought to the players and the supervisory staff primarily via the private environment” and had largely mild courses, reported Boldt.

“There are already symptoms, but we don’t have a really critical case. Nevertheless, we will take a medical look at it again with a magnifying glass. That will definitely happen this week,” announced the 40-year-old with a view to the Düsseldorf game Saturday (1:30 p.m./Sky) on.

The HSV players who were not affected by the corona outbreak underwent a drive-in test at the beginning of the week. Since only negative tests were available, the Hanseatic League could start preparing for the Düsseldorf game with eleven field players and five goalkeepers.

The Rhinelanders had recently asked for the away game at SC Paderborn (1-1) to be relocated due to numerous positive tests. However, the DFL rejected this application at short notice.
