How ignorant can you actually be?

While Germany is shaking through the next wave, many Bayern players fly into the warm. Is theres prohibited? Of course not. But a question still has to be allowed.

The incidences are rising, politicians are tightening the measures, expert councils are meeting and the whole of Germany is anxiously faced with the question: How bad will the next corona wave be?

Whole Germany? No.

In the south of the Federal Republic there is obviously a football club with FC Bayern (Here you get more information), which some players care less about. You’d rather jet halfway around the world between Christmas and New Year – to the Maldives, to Dubai, to Senegal. The logical consequence: At the start of training on Monday, eight of the 25 professionals were absent due to an infection with the corona virus. No Bundesliga club has more infected players.

Can you blame them for that?

Is it therefore allowed to lump all Bayern footballers together? Under no circumstance. Can you blame them for feeling the urge to come out of Germany to soak up the sun? Not really. It is forbidden? Of course not. But one question must still be allowed: How ignorant can you actually be?

Because this is not about ordinary employees, but about football players, about celebrated sports heroes, whose body and health are their capital. Obviously, the massive criticism and the long absence of the former vaccination refusal and teammate Joshua Kimmich were not enough of a warning to be careful. The sporting success of their own club is probably not that important to some players. And the social role model function? Let’s not talk about it any further …

But haven’t the gentlemen really learned anything from the last two years of the corona crisis? And was there no appeal from the club’s management to the employees?

Appeal to the Bayern players?

“Dear Bayern players, please stay in Germany during the short winter break. We have had enough trouble in the last two years. Think about your health, and also about the club. You can still go on vacation after the season. “

This appeal could have been like this or something like that. Maybe it even existed. But even if it did: it didn’t use much.

But what’s next?

There are three realistic scenarios.

First: The DFL says that Back round start of Bayern against Gladbach away. Because as soon as a club has fewer than 15 eligible players (including at least one goalkeeper), the association can accept a request to cancel the game. But that would be unfair.

Secondly: Bayern fill the squad with footballers from the second team and the youth – and may still win. That would be okay.

Or third: The record champions take the rump squad from scenario two and lose the game.

It’s clear: the record champions would have more than deserved the third variant. Because irresponsibility shouldn’t be rewarded too.
