Hopefully these parade cars will soon drive through the streets of Zundert

The hamlets and the parade organization in Zundert are already fully engaged in this year’s flower parade. Lennart Schrouwen of the Bloemencorso Zundert Foundation is optimistic. “We are going for a normal parade in September. Although we cannot look into a crystal ball and we also take other scenarios into account in the back of our minds.” Due to the corona rules, the parade did not drive through the village last year, but the cars were stationary at a large auction site.

Thirteen of the twenty hamlets of the flower parade in Zundert already know what they will build for the parade 2022. Last year’s winning hamlet, Klein Zundert, has announced that they will build ‘Holifant’, a car based on the colorful Elephant Festival in India. .

Jeroen Vriends of the corso magazine Corsief is especially curious about the car of the Tiggelaar hamlet. I’ve seen the ‘Pressure’ design and it looks innovative. It looks like a giant engine in a factory, something with a lot of movement and spectacle.”

Eefje Wagtmans is one of the designers: “You see a mechanic trying to keep things going in an industrial environment. The pressure in the pipes increases to such an extent that the gauges go into the red and steam escapes. Things are escalating.” The car is mainly black and white. “That’s to show the toughness of the industry. We use dahlias that are close to the black, contrasting with white dahlias.”

The Klein Zundertse Heikant hamlet is 75 years old and plans to put the ‘Festival of Insanity’ on the street. The design can best be described as a runaway riding South American carnival mask. To give even more shape to the crazy party, the jubilee hamlet is looking for 150 extras.

But corso magazine Corsief is also celebrating itself. “We are celebrating our 25th anniversary,” says Vriends, “and we are celebrating that with an anniversary book about the developments of the parade and our magazine. For example, a quarter of a century ago, parade floats were built in parade tents held up by wooden poles, but now we build in sheds.”

You can see all the designs known so far in the video.
