Loan player from FC Bayern
Fiete Arp switched to Holstein Kiel last summer after two complicated years at FC Bayern. As part of a loan deal, the 22-year-old, who was hyped a few years ago as the upcoming German international, should find his way back to himself and his strength. So far, this has only worked to a limited extent. Kiel’s coach Marcel Rapp continues to believe in the development of Arps, who received the Fritz Walter medal in gold for the U17s in 2017, but also dampens expectations.
“Medal or not, there are many players who have not even appeared in the professional field. You have to leave out the whole history and see how old the Fiete is. For me it’s not unusual that a player his age plays in the second division,” said Rapp (quoted via “Image”). In October 2017, Arp became the youngest Bundesliga goalscorer in the history of Hamburger SV. From then on, expectations of the young player trained at HSV increased. In 2019, FC Bayern paid 3 million euros for his services. Arps did not make a breakthrough in Munich, and in 2020 he voluntarily joined the second team of the record champions.

Rapp takes a critical look at the steep rise in Hamburg today. “Whether you did something good for him when he was thrown into the Bundesliga like that is another story. But he wants to look ahead, get better every day, has a good one-on-one and is totally humble. I think the boy will go his own way,” said the coach. For Holstein Kiel, Arp scored two goals and two assists in 18 two-league and cup appearances – the offensive man was only substituted on twelve times and five times he remained on the bench without being used.
Holstein Kiel: Fans would like to see Arp longer with the “Storks”.
Kiel fan and godfather “henry78” wrote at the end of January in the TM forum of the second division club: “Arp feels good in Kiel. He compares the KSV with winning the lottery. That’s why I wouldn’t completely call off Arp’s future in Kiel.” “Walloschke_B” took a similar view: “I would also think that it could be worthwhile for both sides if he stayed in Kiel. He still has a few things to learn. But I trust him. I’d like it if he stayed.”
Arp feels at home in Kiel. He compares the KSV with winning the lottery. That’s why I wouldn’t completely call off Arp’s future in Kiel. You can extend the loan for another year or maybe Bayern will terminate the contract completely in summer for a severance payment. It’s all possible. If you could sign Arp for 3 years, I would definitely do it.
You can see Arp’s talent. He has excellent ball control. The ball really sticks to him…
