Holiday work: baking sandwiches, washing dishes and making beds

While many people stop working in the summer and enjoy a nice holiday, reporters Robbert Oosting and Vera Beuke get to work. They dive into the world of holiday jobs. Today they will be working at Hotel Wesseling in Dwingeloo.

A day’s work in the hotel naturally starts with preparing breakfast. And so the holiday workers are up early scrambled eggs making, scooping cottage cheese into bowls and cutting bread.

After breakfast, the dishes must be done. Fortunately, this does not have to be done by hand, but there is a large machine. Although Robbert’s hands get covered in mayonnaise and herb butter. They close the working day with cleaning the rooms. Do they pass the course ‘make a double bed as quickly and neatly as possible?’
