Storm Eunice has created a record wind speeds in Hoogeveen and Eelde, according to weatherman Roland van der Zwaag. In Hoogeveen Eunice managed to reach a speed of 132 kilometers per hour. That is the highest wind speed since the measurement started in Hoogeveen in 1990.
Eunice also achieved high speeds in Eelde. There the storm raged tonight at 124 kilometers per hour. This puts the storm in the top 5 of strongest winds in Eelde. In Eelde, wind speeds have been measured since 1903. Today’s storm tops the 1990 storm. The top 5 are led by the storm of 1972.
According to weatherman Roland van der Zwaag, a new peak can be measured when it comes to wind speeds around 11 p.m. It will then probably blow about 125 kilometers per hour. After midnight, the storm will abate.
