With Hertha BSC, Hamburger SV and FC Schalke 04, three clubs from the 2nd Bundesliga are said to be vying for Michal Karbownik’s services. The Brighton & Hove Albion left-back seems to have a tendency to change.
According to “Bild”, Hertha BSC should be “Karbownik’s first choice”. The capital club is looking for reinforcements for the left-back. The 22-year-old was the focus of attention.
Karbownik is no stranger to the 2nd Bundesliga. The four-time Polish international was loaned to Fortuna Düsseldorf from Brighton & Hove Albion last season and played a total of 27 games for the Rhinelanders. In the summer they parted ways.
Since then there has been speculation about Karbownik’s sporting future. As early as June, the “WAZ” reported on FC Schalke 04’s interest in the left-back. The Polish news portal “meczyki.pl” recently also brought Hertha BSC and Hamburger SV into play.
Hertha BSC is apparently facing transfer poker
According to “Bild”, Karbownik was already in Berlin for talks. The visit “thrilled” the defender, it is said. Brighton & Hove Albion are said to be demanding at least one million euros for their returnee on loan. Hertha BSC apparently hopes to be able to negotiate the sum down.
With Maximilian Mittelstädt (VfB Stuttgart), Marvin Plattenhardt (without a club) and Lukas Ullrich (Borussia Mönchengladbach), the Bundesliga relegated team lost three left-backs this summer. Only Jeremy Dudziak is currently available for this position. For this reason, head coach Pál Dárdai is still hoping for newcomers.
Time is of the essence: Hertha BSC will start the new second division season on Saturday (8:30 p.m.) with the away game at Fortuna Düsseldorf. It remains to be seen who then runs up the back left.
