Hernia clinic Veenhuizen declared bankrupt – RTV Drenthe

The hernia clinic in Veenhuizen has been declared bankrupt. The clinic was founded around 2006 by orthopedic surgeon Menno Iprenburg from Zeijen.

The private clinic specialized in endoscopic operations to treat a hernia or stenosis and had been located on Hospitaallaan in Veenhuizen since 2010. The former hospital complex from 1893, also a national monument, was renovated for this purpose. The renovation took four years.

The clinic was known for a specialist treatment method involving endoscopy (exploration of the body). In addition to various flexible workers, it employs five people.

The bankruptcy, which was declared on Tuesday, has several causes, as curator Jan van Burg has learned. Increased competition, which resulted in fewer patients coming forward, was one of the factors causing financial problems.

Several interested parties have registered with Van Burg for a possible restart. The curator cannot say whether this will actually happen. “We’re looking to see if something can be achieved.”
