‘Hélène Hendriks provokes bullying: the more rude, the better’

Hélène Hendriks is receiving heavy criticism because she allowed a strong comment from Gerard Joling in her talk show. Or does she actually encourage bullying TV? “The more rascally, the better.”

The country has a new talk show queen, Hélène Hendriks, but she doesn’t get a royal nod from everyone. For example, investigative journalist Kim van Keken believes that the presenter really went too far last night by not intervening when Gerard Joling shouts that Sigrid Kaag will soon be dancing on the table with the Hamas terrorists.

Rude

Kim thinks it’s scandalous, she writes down X. “Why wouldn’t you contradict such a mediocre singer in your show. Oh yes, ratings and the rest doesn’t matter. The more rascally, the better. Amusing Ourselves to Death.”

According to her, Hélène’s intervention would have been appropriate, but that did not happen. Or is such a comment from Gerard perhaps just her intention? “The singer and makers of this program raise a lot of money with this kind of bullying, under the guise of ‘I stand for the common man’, of course.”

Critically acclaimed

Jaap Friso, editor at KRO-NCRV, is no longer even surprised by Gerard’s statement. “It is not a remarkable statement at all. It’s just an average two.”

Kim: “That anyway. But I’m mainly concerned about a table like this, where no one bothers to talk about news and politics in a normal way. That can be done very critically, without insults. But that takes too much effort (file knowledge) and does not yield any money.”

Jaap: “Isn’t this with the much-praised Hélène Hendriks who is so sharp and asks questions well???”

‘What a pig’

Actress Nienke ‘s Gravemade really doesn’t think it’s chic of Gerard to say things like this. She therefore decides to scold him properly. “What a swine, this man. And that program.”

EenVandaag editor Marc Belinfante thinks Hélène’s role is worse than that of Gerard. “Fortunately, Gerard Joling is a much better entertainer than an interpreter of international politics. Seen in that light, we should not take this strange statement about Kaag too seriously. It is a bit of a shame that he is given all the space to say something like that.”

Jerk

Gerard also had a strong opinion about the resigned D66 minister Ernst Kuipers. “He simply leaves earlier for a good job abroad. That’s terrible, isn’t it? Then you first make sure that everything is in order here and then you leave? Jerk.”

And Hugo the Younger? “He’s busier with his shoes than politics!”
