Flawless hat trick included
Thanks to their fourth home win in a row, Hamburger SV is in contact with leaders Darmstadt after beating Bielefeld 2-1 in the 2nd Bundesliga. Heidenheim also has direct promotion ranks in sight and beats 1. FC Nürnberg with a four-pack from FCN-Schreck Tim Kleindienst, who improved his goal record against the club 5-0 (3-0) to ten goals in eight games. Karlsruher SC managed to break free in the lower half of the table.
HSV is in good form going into the second division top game next Saturday against leaders SV Darmstadt 98. The runners-up from the Hanseatic city won their home game against Arminia Bielefeld 2-1 (1-0) on Sunday. Ludovit Reis (26th) and Bakery Jatta (57th) scored for the North Germans. Bastian Oczipka (51st) scored the equaliser. The guests remain stuck on the relegation place.
Both teams barely needed a run-up to get into the game. After a corner, the video assistant conceded the supposed leadership of Arminen. Frederik Jäkel was clearly offside when he finished in the 13th minute. After a game by Jonas Meffert against Sebastian Vasiliadis in the penalty area (20th), VAR decided again against the guests and denied a possible penalty.
The Hamburgers had more luck with their leadership. Reis’ shot was deflected by Guilherme Ramos. Bielefeld came out of the break confident and rewarded himself. HSV keeper Daniel Heuer Fernandes was able to fend off the ball from Fabian Klos, but he had no chance against Oczipka’s follow-up shot. Hamburg countered immediately, but Laszlo Benes’ double chance with a free kick on the crossbar and Jonas David in the 53rd minute had no consequences. Jatta did better, converting a wide cross from Jean-Luc Dompé directly. Bielefeld tried a lot and created a few good opportunities. But it was no longer enough to win a point with the favorites.
Kleindienst remains Nuremberg-Schreck – Nobody scored more often in the 2nd division against FCN
With ten goals from eight games against 1. FC Nürnberg, Kleindienst is the player with the most goals against the club in the 2nd Bundesliga. Simon Terodde, who gave FCN nine goals in his second division career, overtook Kleindienst with a flawless hat-trick and another goal on Sunday. Overall, these players scored the most against Nürnberg. Already in the first half the striker made everything clear against the competitor. Shortly before the end, Marnon Busch (86th) made it 5-0 against a decimated Nürnberger.
Kleindienst takes the lead: The top scorers in the 2nd Bundesliga
In the table, Heidenheim overtook SC Paderborn again, who had presented on Friday. After 21 match days, the Franconians still have relegation worries. The advantage over 16th place is only two points.
Kleindienst was there for the first time after 19 minutes because Jan Gyamerah was unlucky to clear. The striker also benefited from an individual error in his second goal. This time Jens Castrop made a mistake and the scorer was left alone at the far post to make it 3-0. At this point, Nuremberg were already outnumbered after Enrico Valentini saw the red card after kicking Jan-Niklas Beste. Far too few came from the guests even after the change of sides. The Heidenheimer managed the lead before Kleindienst added again. He was substituted immediately afterwards. But FCH didn’t have enough, Busch also took advantage of Nuremberg’s loss of the ball.
KSC frees itself: taillight Sandhausen has no chance
Karlsruher SC has taken another step out of the relegation zone in the 2nd Bundesliga and increased the concerns of bottom-placed SV Sandhausen with the safe victory in the North Baden duel. Captain Jerome Gondorf (8th minute), Mikkel Kaufmann (53rd) and Fabian Schleusener (73rd) scored the goals for Karlsruhe on Sunday in the 3-0 (1-0) away win.
With its second win in a row, KSC climbs to eleventh place. Sandhausen’s deficit on the relegation place is one point. It was the fourth competitive defeat in a row for the home side. Both teams had to cope with short-term absences. Kerim Calhanoglu (flu) and Marvin Mehlem (bruised ribs) were absent from SVS, while Karlsruhe had to do without Kyoung-Rok Choi. He injured himself while warming up.
Gondorf managed the early lead for the guests in front of 7876 spectators. His opponent Janik Bachmann had given the veteran too much space. The home side did little on the offensive. Alexander Esswein made the first attempt worth mentioning (49′). The KSC still had more of the game and rewarded themselves with Kaufmann and Schleusener for a decent performance. The SVS didn’t get a shot on goal in 90 minutes.
