German heavyweight boxer Agit Kabayel has positioned himself for a world title fight against British world champion Tyson Fury.
“Tyson Fury, here we go, send me the location”, wrote the 30-year-old European champion on Instagram. A few days ago, Fury’s co-promoter Bob Arum stated that Kabayel could be an upcoming Fury opponent: “He would be a good opponent”he said in an interview on the YouTube channel “iFL TV”.
In March, Kabayel won the European Championship title of the European continental association EBU for the second time in his hometown of Bochum. After the technical knockout against Croatian Agron Smakici, he declared that he was ready for the World Cup. A success in a world championship fight could make Kabayel the first German heavyweight world champion since Max Schmeling.
The unification fight between the two heavyweight world champions Oleksandr Usyk and Fury, which many boxing fans had hoped for, had burst a few weeks ago. Fury holds the WBC World Championship title. The 2.06 meter tall giant last defended this in December 2022 against compatriot Derek Chisora. Kabayel is currently in 13th place in the WBC rankings. The man from Bochum has won all 23 professional duels so far, and he decided 15 of them by knockout.
