Are there any details as to how much prize money the title has? It must be a lot when the English teams in particular take the time for such a sportingly rather moderately interesting competition.
Maybe moderately interesting from a sporting point of view, but quite prestigious in the international (!) perception. Older data speaks of 5 million dollars, which should at least cover travel expenses and player bonuses. 
As a club, you probably don’t want to argue with FIFA either. In addition, the inconveniences caused by the regulations are already minimal for the European participants.
Personally, I think that such a competition can certainly have its appeal. Unfortunately, it is currently implemented very carelessly. FIFA wants to reform the whole thing in the future, but unfortunately in the wrong direction (inflate and commercialize).
