Hannover 96 sells Köhn to Galatasaray for millions

Second division soccer team Hannover 96 loses regular player Derrick Köhn (25) to Turkey. The left-back is moving to top club Galatasaray Istanbul in the Süper Lig with immediate effect. Hannover announced this on Thursday.

“He has clearly signaled to us that he wants to accept this offer and no longer sees his future in Hannover,” said 96 sports director Marcus Mann: “Especially as a second division team, one of our goals must of course be to generate surpluses on the transfer market – that We did very well here.”

According to Galatasaray, the Turks will pay a transfer fee of 3.35 million euros and performance-related bonuses of 300,000 euros.

Köhn receives a contract until 2026 with a one-year option for the club. The transfer window is already closed in Germany, but Turkish clubs can still make signings until this Friday.

The former German U-national player Köhn moved to Hanover in the summer of 2022. For Lower Saxony he scored eight goals in 56 competitive games and prepared twelve more.
