The wave of infections with the omicron strain of coronavirus could end by February 20, and it is likely to be the last wave of a pandemic, said Demosthenes Sariyannis, professor at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. writes Greek edition of Newsbeast.

Sariyannis expects that the peak incidence of omicron will fall on January 20-22, and in a month, by February 20, the drop in the incidence of this strain will end. “Then we will have an end to the spread of omicron, a very large part of society will be immunized,” the professor said.

He also explained that the omicron strain wave could be the last in a pandemic. However, the scientist does not exclude the appearance of new mutations, since the development trends of the coronavirus remain unknown.
