So probably the absolute top earner in the 2nd league. Many in the first division don’t deserve that. But of course underlines the importance he has at HSV. Let’s see if he keeps hitting. Since the HSV leans financially far out of the window, then €5 million+ are tied up.
The salary will probably only be reached with advancement. Ulreich had a similar contract. There were also several hundred thousand advancement bonuses in it. And I don’t know if he’s an “absolute” top earner either. A few comparison numbers would be very useful. Duksch has shown, for example, that a top striker can also be expensive in the second division.
Either the reports about his change request were nonsense or he used Schalke’s possible interest to get better conditions for the contract extension.

The bottom line is certainly not a cheap extension. But currently there is no better striker in the second division. A high salary is of course justified. I’m glad he’s staying. Hopefully he can continue his great season. But I really have little doubt about that. We had a huge construction site on the wings last season. If you improve that, then a similar rate should be there again.
