Borussia Mönchengladbach and Ajax Amsterdam have agreed on a transfer from Ko ItaKura. Both clubs reported enforcement on Friday. The Bundesliga team emphasized that he had met the player’s wish. In the Dutch capital, the defender – as the first Japanese in club history – is now bound until 2029. According to club information, the working paper can be extended by option for another year.
“KO is an excellent footballer and an excellent person who left footsteps here at Borussia,” said Gladbach’s managing director Roland Virkus. “He is a quality player who has always put himself in the service. Therefore, we respect his wish to show these qualities in the Champions League in the future.”
Ajax is said to pay a basic loss of 10.5 million euros. The Gladbach claim of 12 million euros could be achieved through bonuses. This is how the market value of ItaCuras is estimated. “We worked on this transfer for a long time,” said Ajax director Alex Kroes. “KO has the experience and stability that we need in our defense. It is strong, ball -safe and tactically intelligent. With its mentality and leadership, he can also play an important role in the management of the team.”
