She assured that Berlin and the allies “will do everything to prevent further escalation.” In this regard, they have prepared a package of tough measures against Russia. Burbock also noted that the sanctions have been agreed with all partners and will be unprecedented.
“Against this background, I want to emphasize that due to the close economic relations of all partners and, above all, my country, yes, we are also ready to pay a high economic price for this, since we are talking about the security of Ukraine,” the minister concluded.
Shortly before the talks between Burbock and Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba, it became known that her planned meeting with President Volodymyr Zelensky was cancelled. Kuleba, who also attended the briefing, explained that the decision was made due to scheduling issues and was not a “political signal”.
