German goalie Mio Backhaus is completely at home at FC Volendam, but dreams of Werder Bremen

FC Volendam is last in the Premier League, but not everything is doom and gloom in the fishing village. Since this summer, there is another gem under the Volendam goal bar with Mio Backhaus. The talented goalkeeper came over on loan from Werder Bremen last summer and is doing well. “I am very happy to play here and would like to thank the club by giving everything I have.”

At De Dijk we met up with the friendly Mio Backhaus. The 1.94 meter tall goalie quickly stood out among the locals and tourists. And that means that many FC Volendam fans want to take a picture with him. “I like coming here. I appreciate the friendliness and the friendliness of everyone here.”

Backhaus enjoys visiting Volendam. On and off the field, the 19-year-old goalkeeper hopes to shine again for his employer Werder Bremen. “That is my main goal. Of course it is also great at FC Volendam, but Werder Bremen is really in my heart.”

This Sunday Backhaus will be back in action with FC Volendam. The kick-off against Excelsior will take place in the home stadium at 2.30 pm.
