Coach contract extended
Ex-attacker and club icon Alexander Meier has extended his coaching contract with Eintracht Frankfurt by three years. As the Bundesliga club announced on Tuesday, the 39-year-old has signed a contract until June 30, 2025. At the same time, he will move up to the U21s as an assistant coach next season. Meier will be an individual trainer for the youngsters, the statement said.
Meier, who was once revered as the “football god” by Eintracht fans, was previously the assistant coach of the U17s. “For me, the step into the U21s is the next stage in my coaching career,” said Meier, who scored 137 goals in 379 games as a striker for the Hessians and was top scorer in the Bundesliga in the 2014/15 season.
