Fortuna Sittard has won three important points in the Euroborg against FC Groningen. The people of Sittard won 0-1 with a goal from Dimitros Siovas, who punished fumbling in the defense of FC Groningen in the final phase.
Groningen had two scoring chances early in the match, but Michael de Leeuw was unable to complete the crosses from Tomas Suslov and Bjorn Meijer with a goal. From a counter, Mats Seuntjens passed to Zian Flemming, but he shot wide. A few minutes later, Seuntjens was left with a corner from an attack, but no one was able to head the ball into the Groningen goal. Shortly afterwards, the Fortuna defense cracked a shot from Laros Duarte.

In the final phase, newcomer Dimitros Siovas punished fumbling in the Groningen defense by shooting the ball into the goal: 0-1. Shortly afterwards, Mats Seuntjens shot the ball onto Leeuwenburgh’s fists and his action resulted in a corner.
In stoppage time Groningen tried to get a point out of the fire, but Yanick van Osch masterfully kept his goal clean.
