The first thousand days of a baby determine the rest of life, research shows. If you start your life well, you have less chance of diseases later on, you run less risk of becoming addicted and your job opportunities look more favourable. Tessa Roseboom, professor of Early Development and Health at the University of Amsterdam, describes the importance of a good start in her book Right start, which will be released this week.
