Football fan dies after being stabbed during a second division game

A man is dead, the perpetrator is still on the run. In Argentina there was an argument in which a stabbing ended a life.

A game in the second Argentine football league was overshadowed by the death of a fan on Saturday. According to local media, the 43-year-old man was involved in an altercation in a suburb of Buenos Aires shortly before half-time in the Primera Nacional game between Chacarita Juniors and Deportivo Maipu (2-0) and died as a result of being stabbed in the chest.

The police are currently evaluating the images from the surveillance cameras to identify the perpetrator.

According to the authorities, the fight did not have its origins in clashes between rival fan groups, which often cause fatal incidents in Argentina. Rather, alcohol and drug consumption are said to have been the cause of the collision.
