In 1997 the native of Nürtingen switched to VfB Stuttgart and has remained loyal to the club with the red chest ring, with minor interruptions, to this day – for 25 years. Didavi’s time with the Swabians ends now, for which he played a total of 113 Bundesliga games in which he scored 24 goals.
Didavi: “Now a new chapter begins for me”
“The time at VfB flew by. I can still well remember how I started as a youth player at VfB and then the dream of a professional career came true,” said Didavi on his farewell: “We’ve experienced a lot together, Unforgettable moments like staying up in the league recently, but also bitter hours. It meant a lot to me every second to wear the VfB jersey and play in front of these fans. Now a new chapter is beginning for me, but I will always remember VfB carry hearts.”
It is still unclear where this “new chapter” lies. The 32-year-old is free. In the past season he only made ten appearances for VfB in the Bundesliga, and he managed one assist.
“Dida came to VfB as a young boy and is now leaving as a person who has not only given the club a lot in terms of football,” said VfB sporting director Sven Mislintat: “In sportingly successful phases and especially when the desired results did not materialize, Dida took responsibility. He never put his personal interests ahead of the team and ours, his club, and he always showed that it was something very special to wear our shirt with the chest ring.”

Nevertheless, in joint talks, it was decided not to extend the expiring contract, Mislintat continued: “We discussed our common situation with Dida after the end of the season and came to the conclusion not to extend the expiring contract beyond the summer “It wasn’t an easy decision for any of us. The doors at VfB will always be open for Dida, and we wish him all the best for the future.”
