Fished-up tusk belongs to forest elephant and is 120,000 years old

The extraordinary find can now be admired in the Museum of Natural Sciences in Brussels. (read more below the photo)

The tooth of more than two meters comes from a forest elephant. The species disappeared from our regions before the mammoth. The tusk is very well preserved. The adult male to whom the tooth belonged must have been three and a half meters high. Forest elephants have straight tusks.
