Two men were arrested on New Year’s Day in the port of Rotterdam on suspicion of smuggling a batch of cocaine. The two persons, aged 24 and 33, are the first drug suspects to be arrested since a new law came into effect on January 1, which makes it possible to impose a stricter penalty for unauthorized presence at airports and other ports, with prison sentences of up to two years.
