Actually, the first medals in alpine skiing should be awarded on Sunday. But that won’t happen because the weather in China didn’t play along again.
For the first time at the Olympic Games in Beijing, a competition had to be cancelled. The men’s downhill on Sunday will be postponed. The gusts of wind in the Yanqing National Alpine Skiing Center were too strong. They are said to have been fast at up to 10 m/s.
The race will be repeated at 5 a.m. German time on Monday between the two runs in the women’s giant slalom.
