Familiar from the Finnish national volleyball team Sakari Mäkinen was in a serious car accident on Sunday morning. Mäkinen’s club team Akaa-Volley told about it.

According to the volleyball club, the parties involved in the crash were taken to Tampere University Hospital for treatment after the accident.

– Mäkinen has received appropriate treatment and recovery from the accident looks good with this information, executive director of Akaa-Volley Panu Pitkänen says in the club’s press release.

Mäkinen, who turns 30 next week, represented Finland at the World Volleyball Championships in 2018. The man’s father is a legendary national team coach Arto Mäkinen.

Sakari Mäkinen has won one WC gold and two WC bronzes. In addition to Finland, he has played in the Netherlands, Belgium and Belarus.
