Yle’s longtime news anchor Arvi Lind made an impression on many well-known Finns during his career.

Host Marja Hintikka describes Lindi as a “news anchor of all time”.

– News anchor of all time, Finland’s most reliable man and legend. And yet you always managed to be an encouragement to us younger people in the industry, Hintikka recalls on his Instagram account in the memorial message he shared.

– You took it seriously, you met and talked, describes the effect Lindi had on the journalist who was at the beginning of his career.

– You were also the best interviewee in the world, because you had such a great sense of self-irony and humor – such a Karelian and Roisi, Hintikka writes.

– Warm condolences to the relatives. The great personality is gone, writes actor Janne Kataja on Instagram.

Mika Aaltola (CEO) commented on Instagram The importance of Lindi’s work as a news anchor.

– The trust built by Lindi was not born from technical gimmicks, but from people and hard work.

– Civilization and language were a tool for understanding for Arville, not a passing rhetorical decoration. Finland will miss his voice, his ability to be reliable and what he represented in our fragmented world.

Host Ella Kanninen shared the obituary in a temporarily visible Instagram story.

– My teacher in the summer journalist course, later a colleague in the news. Best Estimate Encouraging, friendly. A real gentleman, Kanninen writes.

Lind’s former ice hockey club Saimaan Pallo (SaiPa) has also shared their condolences.

– Arvi Lind in memoriam, the hockey club writes on its Facebook page.

– We take part in the grief of the relatives.

The club has also shared a picture of Lindi from SaiPa’s 70th anniversary gala from 2018.

Dingo’s singer-songwriter Pertti Neumann shared on his Facebook account a picture of young Lindi as a newsreader.

– RIP Arvi Lind, Neumann writes, meaning “rest in peace”.
