What will PSV’s selection look like after the summer? That’s a question every fan asks themselves after every season. With the World Cup approaching and various agreements in contracts, there is a chance that strong players such as Ismael Saibari, Mauro Júnior and Ricardo Pepi will leave Eindhoven. But PSV does not have to sell, so a departure is not certain for every player.

A transfer that seems to be coming is that of Ismael Saibari to Bayern Munich, transfer journalist Mounir Boualin from Helmond also confirms. “The clubs will meet again on Monday and the aim is to reach an agreement before the start of the World Cup,” he says. According to Boualin, the final amount should be at least fifty million euros.

Buyout clauses
Mauro Júnior has a buyout clause of twelve million euros in his contract. If a club is prepared to pay this before the agreed date, PSV no longer has any say in this. Mauro Júnior can still decide for himself whether he wants a next step, and Boualin sees hope there: “I hear different stories about that. I can also see it happening that he thinks: I am in a good place at PSV. He is quite picky.”

Porto is said to be interested, but according to Boualin, has still not reported to PSV. Sergiño Dest is also said to have a buyout clause of around twenty million euros.

It’s a different story for Joey Veerman. “There have been stories for three periods that he would leave. I have the feeling that he attaches great importance to his environment. I heard that he went to see Brentford in London in the winter, and he didn’t like that at all. It must all be right for him.”

And for PSV too, everything has to be right if they want to sell players. PSV does not have to sell, so clubs will have to come up with significant sums to convince director of football affairs Earnest Stewart. “There is also an atmosphere at PSV: we still have to see. Since many players can leave for a high amount, there are only a number of clubs that can afford that.”

Ten PSV players at the World Cup
Much will depend on the performance of the ten PSV players at the World Cup: Guus Til, Ismael Saibari, Ricardo Pepi, Sergiño Dest, Ivan Perisic, Matej Kovár, Paul Wanner, Anass Salah-Eddine, Armando Obispo and Esmir Bajraktarevic will all be in action on the big stage.

The 33-year-old journalist expects a lot of commotion, especially around Bajraktarevic: “He is very well in the market. Everton is following him intensively and at PSV they also expect to lose him. That could easily be an amount between twelve and fifteen million.”

If a lot of strong players leave, you as a fan don’t have to worry immediately. After last season, six basic players also left, including Luuk de Jong and Noa Lang. And yet the board managed to build a strong team again, with which the Eindhoven team became glorious champions.
