Even a champion like Fernando Alonso needs a little help every now and then, and this time it’s video games that give it to him.
Formula 1 drivers are in many cases passionate about gaming, thanks to the now very low average age of the grid. However, even older drivers like two-time world champion Fernando Alonso often give in to temptation. And someone like the Asturian could only do it to train for his next commitment…
Alonso and Qatar —
This week, as is known, the Formula 1 World Championship stops in Qatar, on the Losail circuit which makes its return to the big circus. Probably due to the fact that F1 missed the Qatar Grand Prix last year, and it is only the second time there, Fernando Alonso felt the need to prepare as best as possible before competing in it on board his Aston Martin. As? With the help of a video game, of course (even if not the latest Forza Motorsport).
“Night on the simulator” —
As reported by gamers on Reddit, in fact, Alonso was “pinned” to prepare for Assetto Corsa Competizione, a realistic racing game made in Italy, together with some friends. Not that the Spaniard made a secret of it, since he himself shared it in a story. “Getting ready for Qatar with fast friends,” he joked with an emoji on Instagram. “Another night on the simulator.” Alonso lapped with a Formula Hybrid 20 and, at the time of the shot, he had already brought home 14 laps and (naturally…) the best time. All that remains is to wait for the race weekend to understand if the video game training behind the wheel has paid off…
