January / February / March 2022 – first quarter:

The Fashion Council Germany e. V. currently offers exciting, free webinars on relevant topics in the fashion industry. The focus is on new developments and recommendations for production, marketing, photography, digitization, creative storytelling, fashion tech and sustainability. The speakers will mostly speak in English, some contributions are in German (marked with EN and DE).

The current dates for January to March can be found below. Please register for the respective event in order to receive a zoom link to the webinar, which you can then use to attend the respective date.

DE: The path that a piece of clothing travels before it hangs in one’s own wardrobe and the conditions under which it was manufactured somewhere in the world can be improved by the use of blockchain technology for everyone involved in the ecosystem, but above all for the Consumers, more transparent and understandable. Due to the current developments in the market and the increased interest of consumers, the textile company KAYA & KATO and some of its partners from the global supply chain have commissioned the technology company IBM to develop a blockchain prototype for the textile industry. The project was supported by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The new “TEXTILE TRUST” solution addresses a multitude of challenges in the complex textile supply chain in the future, final expansion stage – transparency, sustainability, material origin and quality and working conditions. IBM’s many years of experience in more than 400 implemented blockchain projects worldwide has already shown that blockchain technology can deliver great added value for a large number of companies in numerous industries. The beginning has been made for the textile industry, now it is time to take the next steps consistently and with other partners.

DE: The webinar gives an overview of the different legal areas of industrial property protection (trademark law, copyright law, license law, design law, patent law) and shows their pitfalls.

It explains, for example, why a trademark search is necessary before a company can take action – even without a trademark registration and describes why maintaining a trademark or a company or product name is elementary. The relevance with regard to licensing is explained. Basic structures of copyright and license law are addressed. Participants have the opportunity to ask questions.
