Bottom-up FC Ingolstadt has signed an alternative to the goalkeeper position to fight for relegation in the 2nd Bundesliga.
The relegation-threatened Schanzer announced on New Year’s Eve the loan from Dejan Stojanovic, who is moving from the English second division club FC Middlesbrough to the Danube until the end of the season.
According to its own information, the club also secured a purchase option for the 28-year-old Austrian.
“For our big challenge in the second half of the season, we have to and will increase the level of competition within our team in order to be able to achieve the maximum possible performance. That is why we have brought in Dejan for the goalkeeper position, an experienced man with determination, conviction and positive energy radiates, “said Ingolstadt’s manager of professional football, Malte Metzelder.
The FCI is at the bottom of the table with only ten points after 18 games. A non-relegation zone is ten meters away.
Coach Rüdiger Rehm’s team starts the new year at 1. FC Heidenheim on January 16.
